Our Backyard Travel guide will be waiting to meet you when you arrive in Bangkok, where you’ll be transferred to your hotel by limousine. Take some time to enjoy the hotel, then your evening will begin!

Date 2 : BANGKOK - BANGKOK

Bangkok-life starts early, and we’ll get into the local spirit of things with a morning trip to the famous temple, Wat Pho. Here you’ll see the temple’s monks begin their early morning chanting ritual; a serene and often moving experience.

Date 3 : BANGKOK - BANGKOK

Experience the slowed-down rhythms of rural Thailand with a full day excursion to the countryside. We’ll head south to the city of Samut Songkram and start the day with a short train ride to a quirky country market that goes on alongside the railway tracks

Date 4 : BANGKOK - BANGKOK

Today we’ll leave Bangkok for a day trip by local train to the ancient capital, Ayutthaya. Upon arrival at the former Siamese kingdom, hop into a distinctive frog-shaped Tuk Tuk (known as a ‘Kermit’), and spend the rest of the morning touring the magnificent ruins and ancient temples of Ayutthaya historical park.

Date 5 : BANGKOK - CHIANG MAI

Today we change the pace, departing The Big Mango (as it’s affectionately referred to by expats) for the beautiful, peaceful ‘Rose of the North’, Chiang Mai. The flight takes one hour and after checking into your hotel, we’ll visit a farmhouse in Mae Rim, a district on the outskirts of the city.

Date 6 : CHIANG MAI - CHIANG MAI

Head to the Chiang Dao (Elephant Mountain) camp, set amongst the magnificent scenery of the Mae Sae valley, and take a one hour ride by elephant into the surrounding forest. Leave the elephant camp for the Mae Ping River, where you’ll ride a bamboo raft, following the lazy current of the winding river as you pass its lush jungle riverbanks.

Date 7 : CHIANG MAI - CHIANG MAI

In the morning we’ll hit the town for a 30 minute rickshaw ride through Chiang Mai, passing neighborhoods buzzing with early morning life. Glide along until you arrive at a local market; where you’ll pick-up sweet delicacies and flowers to offer the monks in a blessing ceremony at the rarely visited Wat Ket Temple.

Date 8 : CHIANG MAI - CHIANG MAI

Now we head for Mae Kampong village, in the countryside outside of Chiang Mai. It’s a 12 year old Community ecotourism project, set up to help local villagers find a sustainable means of income to prevent them from illegal forest encroachment. Stop en-route at a farmers market to choose fresh ingredients to be cooked for lunch.

Date 9 : CHIANG MAI - PHUKET

You are free at leisure this morning until your transfer to the airport for a direct flight to Phuket.

Date 10 : PHUKET - PHUKET

We’ll hit the touring trail again with a visit to a rubber plantation; this Amazonian tree has for many years been an important part of Thailand’s economic life.

Date 11 : PHUKET - PHUKET

This day is free at leisure to relax by the beach or if you’d like to, you can further explore the island with some optional excursions, which can be requested in advance from Backyard Travel.

Date 12 : PHUKET - PHUKET

Your day is free at leisure until you transfer to Phuket International Airport for your onward flight.
